Big Broad Productions was set up in 2005 and became the lead producer for Bad Girls The Musical, first at West Yorkshire Playhouse in 2006 and subsequently in the West End at the Garrick Theatre in 2007. Since then they have been quietly developing several new musicals and plays. Douglas McJannet joined Big Broad as Producer in Spring 2013 to help bring those new projects to the stage.
Maureen Chadwick
Maureen Chadwick’s play The Speed Twins was produced at Riverside Studios in September 2013 followed by a 2014 production of The Realness at Hackney Downs Studios. Finally, following a workshop presentation at the Harold Pinter Theatre, September 2015 sees the launch of Crush in a co-production with the Belgrade Theatre, Coventry.
Kath Gotts
As a composer, Kath has written incidental music and songs for television and theatre, notably for Bad Girls the television series as well as music and lyrics for Bad Girls The Musical on stage, for which she was also lead producer. She has written music and lyrics for The Realness, which premiered at Hackney Downs Studios in Autumn 2014 in co-production with The Big House Theatre Company and Crush, a new musical which premiered at The Belgrade Theatre, Coventry in September 2015.
A new musical in development…
We are curently developing Footballers’ Wives – a musical comedy noir, with book by Maureen Chadwick, co-creator of the original TV series, and music and lyrics by Kath Gotts.
A first extract from Footballers’ Wives was presented at BEAM2018 – a two day industry showcase for new British musicals, hosted by Theatre Royal, Stratford East on 1st – 2nd March 2018.
